What Can I DO?

Volunteer to deliver meals, donating 1½ hours a day, a week, a month or a year. Encourage, your place of employment to provide volunteers for a route. SPecial volunteer opportunities are available in the Fall to help with our blizard boxes, poinsettias and christmasgifts. Simply call 434-847-0796 amd we can help you get involved.

Groups and Organizations

Groups can help by sponsoring teams of volunteers to deliver meals and by donating towards the cost of providing the service.

Funds

Unfortunately, only a very small number of our meal recipients are able to pay for their meals. It is up to us to raise the funds so they do not go hungry. The need is growing, but the funds are shrinking. Your gift will go far to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry.

Support Meals on Wheel services by:

  • Giving a tax-deductible gift,
  • Making a memorial contribution in memory of a loved one, or
  • Sending a gift in honor of a friend or relative
  • Tell friends and organizations about Meals on Wheels services and needs.
  • Inform those who may need the services of Meal on Wheels.

Mission Statement

Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lynchburg Area has been providing healthy meals, friendly smiles, and warm reassurance to the local homebound community since 1974.

Service

Meals are delivered mid-day, Monday through Friday including holidays. Volunteers deliver the meals in their own cars at their own expense, which helps keep the cost of meals low. Meals on Wheels serve people who live in the city of Lynchburg and the surrounding areas of Madison Heights, Amherst County, Campbell County, and Bedford County.
